Ende letzten Jahres habe ich einen für mich eher ungewöhnlichen Job angenommen und über mehrere Wochen hinweg für die wunderschöne Serie “MaPa” von Joyn und RBB die Setbilder und Behind the Scenes fotografiert. In der “Sadcom” kämpft sich Max Mauff aka Metin als alleinerziehender Vater durch und das klappt in der Regel mehr schlecht als recht. Dabei wird er von einem wunderbaren Ensemble begleitet (z.B. Hannah Lühmann und ich haben inzwischen schon vier Mal zusammen Fotos gemacht. Die Bilder sind alle toll geworden, aber die Porträts, die wir letzten Sonntag zusammen in Berlin gemacht haben, gehören zu den schönsten, die ich in zehn Jahren Porträtfotografie gemacht habe. Manchmal passt einfach alles, der Vibe, die Idee, das Licht, die Farben und die Umgebung. Da konnten uns auch anstehende Deadlines und Anrufe aus der Redaktion nicht aufhalten. A tiny trip to Sicily.

In the early summer days of 2016, H. and I went on a really short trip to Sicily. We booked a tiny car and a wonderfully charming Airbnb surrounded by lemon trees in the middle of the old city of Modica. We had fantastic food and found peace of mind sleeping blessed under the Madonna. Played Yahtzee between the lemon trees and jointly analyzed our very different gambling types over local red wine. My blogging habits have been insufficient lately and I’m very sorry. Life isn’t easy right now, I had a chronic sunisitis and a gum infection for months (!)… finally a doctor took a swap and found a nasty germ in my body and since day one of antibiotic treatment, I feel a lot better though still not entirely back in shape. I have been working like crazy, photographing, editing, writing and concepting new projects and jobs and have reached a level of busy-ness that I don’t want to continue. Ihr merkt es ja sicher: hier ist es zur Zeit sehr still. Das tut mir leid, aber so voll wie gerade war mein Terminkalender noch nie. Ich ackere gerade jede Woche mehrere Fotojobs ab, habe Glowbus ein Interview zum Arbeiten mit Kind gegeben und neulich Teresa Bücker für Edition F porträtiert. Die Wochen bis Weihnachten bleiben spannend und auch im neuen Jahr geht es nahtlos weiter. Meine harte und unermüdliche Arbeit der letzten Jahre zahlt sich zunehmend aus, ich bin glücklich und dankbar! The past weeks have been a bit crazy, I had a few equipment accidents and things weren’t always going smooth in this life of mine. Because I am so busy, I seem to not be capable of concentrating on writing/editing a whole post on one topic.
